How Do You Stay on Track Eating Healthy and Exercising Throughout the Weekend?

I know starting a healthy lifestyle journey can be a pain-point for some people, but if you want to see change, you must change your habits when it comes to staying on track with eating healthy and exercising through the weekend.  Here are some of my tips to help with the struggle because let’s face it when the weekend comes we either want to veg out or we are running around to catch up with errands that couldn’t be done during the week.

Sometimes the weekend is a love-hate cycle.

  • Plan your meals on Sunday for the week; some will incorporate meal prepping to stay on track with what one is putting into their bodies. If you know there is a possibility of getting off track due to dinner with friends or attending a party, it’s okay to eat a little something before arriving as this will help with not overeating and not feel guilty about going out.
  • Depending on the event maybe change your cheat day to fall on Saturday or Sunday but not both.
  • I purposely time-block my exercise routine on the weekend and scheduled for early mornings if I have errands to run. Journal what you want to accomplish each day.
  • Make your exercise routine fun. Remember it doesn’t have to be in the gym. You can take a brisk walk in your neighborhood, walk a botanical garden for scenery, do a Zumba class, get your children or grandchildren involved if possible.

Honestly, you just must to commit to yourself not to sabotage all the progress you’ve achieved during the week. We are all accountability partners to one another for the next 8-weeks. Make the commitment and tell us that you want to be held accountable.

Lastly, don’t let the weekends of overindulging keep your from reaching your goals and then beating yourself up for enjoying the downtime. Incorporate these tips if you believe they fit your lifestyle and personal needs. The more you practice, it will become a habit.
