Low Carb Oatmeal Substitute: One of my Favorite Oatmeal Alternatives

Growing up, our mothers used to tell us to eat our oatmeal because it would stick to our bones and keep us full longer. Who can relate? Well, now as an adult regular oatmeal isn’t the best as half your daily carb limit is taken up with 50 grams of oats. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve had to adjust my diet in order to continue to burn fat instead of filling those stubborn storage areas (i.e. tummy, hips, and thighs). The goal to decrease one’s carb and sugar (sugar is the devil) intake.
I know this is going to be a challenge for some just as it was for me, but you can do it by taking one day at a time and not set unrealistic goals. The best suggestion I can give is to find something comparable to your favorite foods. An example would be: if you like pizza crust substitute the dough with cauliflower instead. By starting off slow you will be able to transition to a Keto(genic) diet. As a diabetic, I found the keto diet was a good alternative for me to maintain a healthy lifestyle and was prescribed by physicians before insulin was discovered. Now, how neat is that– it’s making a come back.
So, one of my favorite alternatives to oatmeal can be prepared in 5 minutes and only has 2 grams of carbs per ounce. Chai Seed Oatmeal is packed full of antioxidants, high in Omega-3 fatty acids, rich fiber, vitamins, and minerals the body needs. Welcome to your superfood that not only helps me with a history of diabetes, but also can lead to better bone health, metabolic function, improved digestive system, and maintain a healthy heart.
Now that you know all the benefits of Chai Seed Oatmeal, I’m sure you’re wondering about the nutritional value. For every ounce serving of chai seed, there are 137 total calories, two grams of carbs, 8 grams of fat, 4 grams of protein, and ten grams of fiber.
To prepare Chai Seed Oatmeal is no different than preparing regular oatmeal as they both require hot water and time for the water to soak in for a hearty breakfast that provides sufficient nutrients.
